This early Morning Blizzard sent me the items that were stolen from our Guild Bank a week and a half ago.
In order to put them all where they belong, I donated 3.500 gold to the existing 1.500 gold and bought another Bank Tab. This tab is called "Armor Weaponry" and is accessible with the same restrictions as the other tabs.
All members from this day on, can take weapons from the Guild Bank again without HAVING to put their old weapons in. The Blue Tab for Rare High Level items will still be used for people who are entitled to a leveling present. The Guild will continuously support only the Main Character and 1 Alt with Leveling Presents.
Please dont forget to donate gold, silverlings and/or bronze when You repair from the Guild Bank. Thanks in advance!

ReplyDeleteHurrah! :)
ReplyDeleteYyaahooooooo.... :D
ReplyDeleteHugs and thanks to Ahlaina for taking screenshots, sending emails and notes to Blizzard so ensure the matter was handled quickly and effectively.
Some of you may have noticed that the Alt "Moirin" had been happily levelling in the Borean Tundra... I did too and enquired of the powers in the tower why in blazes hasnt something been done yet when so many facts had been placed at their feet... Hackers dont usually play! They cut in, sell up and bolt, so in essence, this was probably not your normal hacker, but a common garden variety thief.
It turns out that a player, be they a fantastic sport or a total scammer, apparently have a "right of reply".. innocent until proven guilty if you will.
The process includes sending an email from Blizzard accounts to the account owner to varify their account has been hacked or still in their possession. They also have to go through the motions of the technical people varifying ownership from the Blizzard end. This needs time. The other factors include, Moirins account was the old world of warcraft type, not the newer Battlenet account. You may notice it takes longer to sign on than it used to. It is the varification process taking place. They then can make a decision from suspending the player through to delivering the details to a fraud investigation squad for the purpose of prosecuting someone.
In this case, they needed Moirin to get back to them to varify her account, not realising she hadnt been anywhere near her computer for quite some time. In all likelyhood, the case for arguments sake, was that her computer has been stolen. The last time her computer was hacked was by far a much more classic type of hacking job that affected many of the guild at the time with the older accounts.
The ISP can be contacted, traces performed (Aus$2600 if youre with Telstra Bigpond) then notify where that computer was signed on from, and narrow down who would be the likely thief.
With some international agreements, some legal issues can be addressed in a range of countries, initiated by the country of origin, or the country where the offense allegedly took place. It takes enormous amounts of time and funding to monitor without adding legal fees for prosecution, so the likelyhood of someone ever seeing the inside of a courtroom is very slim indeed. Non existant where there are no cross border agreements in place. The only aside to that is where an adult deliberately lures (befriends) and grooms (teaches and manipulates under the auspices of trust and friendship) a minor for the purposes of paediphelia. Internet fraud is a long way down the list, even if millions of dollars change hands. In criminal terms, it is a great way to launder money, raise cash and basically have an easy time of it. The alternatives such as dealing drugs, robbing banks and breaking into houses can all get you killed... Internet fraud is an anonymous crime.
Blizzards role then becomes a witness providing evidence. Again a process that can take years.
So, having said that, we can but continue to report suspected stolen toons and accounts, making it difficult for these people to operate on our server...
May the good guys win...
Shrubberies to you all.
